below is my e-mail summary for the benefit of somebody who was considering going to see the film this morning, and didn't... Harrison Ford vehicle. He's becoming "past it" as thriller/action star. So film is about how his character is also "past it" - plays some kind of IT security expert, works with banks (constructing "firewall" programmes to deter hackers). Family (including dog!!!) kidnapped/held hostage by villainous Paul Bettany (old-style Brit antagonist: drinks tea!!!). Ford must hack into his own systems before the bad guys hack into his family (and dog!!!). Laborious shenanigans ensue. All very olde schoole, despite technological bells and whistles. Desperate Hours home-invasion fare. One or two points of lively interest along the way (feels longer than 105mins): presence of Punch Drunk Love alumnus Mary Lynn Rajskub (who has a great character-actress face) as Ford's putupon secretary. Odd scene where she has to borrow her paramour's mobile and discovers him playing guitar on-stage in some kind of Christian rock band during a raucous gospel concert. Otherwise very predictable and by-the-numbers, passable-for-multiplexes fare.
